We'd love to have you join us!

To Join the Fiddleheads

Members must be 7 years of age to join and have a minimum of two years playing experience

Students need to be comfortable learning tunes be ear, be familiar with all the note names on the fingerboard and be able to play basic fiddle tunes at a medium tempo(i.e. Liza Jane,  Bird on a Twig)

Rehearsals Expectations

Rehearsals take place on Mondays from 6p.m. to 6:55p.m. with an additional advanced class for back row fiddlers from 7p.m. to 7;30p.m. Students are expected to arrive 10 minutes early to tune and warm up.

There are three weekend retreats (Sept/Feb/May). Attendance is mandatory as these are big repertoire  building blocks for our season and we bring up well known outside instructors (plus they are a lot of fun!)

Students are responsible for ensuring they know their part and are expected to practice at home if they need extra work on a piece (s).  Keitha is available at 5:30p.m. before rehearsal if you need extra help.

If you will miss a rehearsal or performance, please let Keitha know.

Performances: What to expect

4-6  performances throughout the season (including barn dances, fundraisers, nursing home concerts, etc). Back Row fiddlers perform as band for the barn dances.

2-3 Jams/Potlucks- Family & friends welcome. Bring some finger food and your fiddle- parents welcome to dust off their instruments too!

1 Year End Show  which will include additional rehearsals outside of regular rehearsal time (usually 1-2 extra rehearsals).

Community Tour:  Usually a 2 day tour to a Yukon Community to foster connection and collaboration with their local youth fiddle group (or other youth community groups)

The annual fee for the season (includes all weekly rehearsals, weekend retreats and performances) is $500.
